BUSINESS BRANDING & BUSINESS STATIONERY DESIGN INFORMATION
Chameleon Design takes your business identity as seriously as you do, analysing your business before the drawing board even comes out. Then we apply our usual brand of fresh and creative design to produce the optimum identity that will make your business stand out among your competitors.
Once a logo has been decided on, the corporate identity comes quite naturally, taking some elements such as style, font and colour from the logo, and extending them to produce a complete stationary set (Logo, Business Card, Letterhead, Compliment Slip & Accounts/Purchasing Stationery) if requested.
There are no limits to what can be designed as part of your corporate identity so Chameleon Design can provide graphics for everything from Advertising/Promotional Materials to Web Graphics and Exhibition Stand
Displays.
The two most important things in Corporate Identity Design are The Brief & Implementation of Your Chosen Printers Specifications.
You need to think ahead regarding your print requirements for your business stationery, Are you going to print your own in-house or are you going to have digital/litho print batches supplied by a print house?
Designing for In-House Printing
To lay the design out for your specific in-house printer(s) we need to know what your printer settings are and print margins so the design can be optimised for best use on your printer. This way when you print the design
you will have high quality output and the design will be contained within your printers set capabilities and margins. Most home or office printers do not print to the very edge of your sheet of paper, therefore you can expect to have an unprinted ‘border’ around your artwork.
Designing for Print Houses
Stationery is normally either printed in Digital or Litho,
Digital prints will use a Digital Press Printer and are economic for short print runs.
Litho prints will use a computer to plate system and a press for high quality, high quantity print runs.
Both methods have requirements for Bleed and Trim and all Print Houses will be happy to supply this information to you. Some display this information on their websites. The requirement may be different for each stationery item. See Below for an example showing business card bleed and trim specs.
The final size of a business card is 85mm x 55mm Artwork layout should be set at 88mm x 58mm. This extra 3mm (all round) is referred to as the "Bleed". "Bleed" is the term used to indicate the area that will be cut off after your business card has been printed and cut to the final size. It is mandatory to create this 3mm bleed on all four sides of your business card. Text Placement must be contained within the safe zone of 82mm x 52mm to avaoid any text being cut off at trim stage.
